Microlearning: Training in Small Bites
Becky knows that online training can be a real bore and, for some, a real time-waster. The content may be good, but it can go on and on before you get to the test. Say hello to micro learning! It’s quick, it’s effective, and you can repurpose your existing training. The Bob Pike Group is about to offer a two-day course on micro learning.

Did your learner really understand? Measuring Success With Assessments
Becky is the first to admit that assessments aren’t sexy, but they’re important. They improve your teaching, and they help your learners. She covers both summative and formative assessments, explains the differences, and helps you pick the best time to use them.

Encouraging Teamwork Encourages Learning
When people feel in control and included, they’re most open to learning. Becky has some tips on how you can make people feel important about themselves to help increase their learning.

Becky Says…

Bite-sized learning extends itself beautifully in self-paced learning…

“The more we repeat information, the more likely it is to wind up in our long-term memory. Studies show that short, repetitive learning increases long-term retention over spaced intervals”

“When training is relevant and personalized, it reinforces transfer of learning to the job. According to the Journal of Applied Psychology, learning in bite-sized pieces makes the transfer of learning 17% more efficient.”

So here are 6 “rules of engagement” for how to lead virtual trainings that are, well, engaging!

Rules of Engagement: How to create captivating webinars

In the past, “fun” was not a word employees often used to describe corporate training. But incorporating Gamification into your online or classroom environment could change that.

Using Gamification to Rethink Corporate Training

As any parent can attest, we live in a gaming age. Today’s young workers were raised on daily doses of video games, role-playing games and bite-sized, reward-based online media.

Webinars with WOW Factor

By: Becky Pike Pluth M.Ed.

Excerpt from Chapter 5:
Put a WOW Factor into your webinars and keep your attendees coming back for more by creating a participant-centered webinar. Participant-centered webinars utilize different types of interactions, CLOSER (Closers, Learning Activities, Openers, Soft Openers, Energizers and Revisiters), that help keep people engaged and motivated while still focusing on your content.

  • Closers - A chance to give them a motivational & inspirational finale to celebrate in the learning process and be proud of what they've accomplished.

  • Learning Activities - Teaching as you go through the activities, for example: case studies, brainstorming and information application.

  • Openers - Decreases tension in the room with activities that create a safe, encouraging atmosphere to share ideas, network and build relationships.

  • Soft Openers - Sets the tone and puts attendees at ease by encouraging lateral thinking by engaging the audience for 5-10 minutes.

  • Energizers - Helps your audience to refocus preferably after the 60-minute mark or a quick break - content does not have to be specifically related.

  • Revisiters - Review the material again making sure your attendees were listening.

One of the many tools Becky Pike mentions in her book, is the important use of Application Sharing or Remote Desktop Sharing. It's a function found in most remote sharing platforms and allows users to host and share applications.

"I really like playing games. Products like BRAVO! allow learners to have a virtual response pad, and then the instructor application sharing shares the actual game show and questions. This is a more advanced skill, but a fun way to revisit content."

Whether you're looking to conduct a brainstorming session, introduce new concepts, refocus your attendees or review existing material, BRAVOZONE can help you accomplish each of the CLOSER interactions for your training sessions.
